As a society, we tend to fixate on the visual consequence of weight gain and weight loss, but what happens when we start to look beyond the scales?

Understanding the reasons why you want to lose weight is often the key to staying motivated, and getting results.

After launching its new weight management program, Modere invited seven real people to participate in a more personal kind of ‘before and after’.

Delving into the emotional side of the program, the participants fronted a camera, and talked about what they believe they’ve lost in their lives, and how they’re hoping to find something better for themselves.

The results? Increased inspiration to tackle the three-month healthy living challenge.

“If I’m honest, I’m in a bit of a rut,” Said Gracie (24, Retail Manager), when reflecting on her health.

“I want to take more care of how I’m feeding myself–not just food, but mentally and emotionally.”

For Sean (33, Project Consultant), it was about being there for his family.

“I’ve binged and eaten poorly for the better part of 15 years and in particular recently I’ve found an incredible lack of energy, I get sick quite constantly.

“I have one son and another on the way, so I need to make sure that in my future with them, I’m able to do the things that a father should,” he said.

Gracie and Sean have since embarked on the M3 pledge–a three-month health program inspired by the Mediterranean diet that focuses on real food, sustainable changes in lifestyle, and a supercharged range of supplements.

At four weeks, Gracie had lost 7.3kg and Sean had lost 5.3kg.

When asked about her ‘why’, Gracie said “I would hope to find love in the future, and that includes a love of myself, and then to be able to fall in love.”

“That’s what keeps me going.”

  1. Set goals that match your motivation

The next step is to connect that inspiration to an achievable goal–the ‘after’. This can be in any facet of life, and doesn’t have to be a number.

“My goals are to keep a healthy weight, and have enough energy to be able to take the family on holiday,” says Sean.

  1. Have a plan and support
