I started my weight loss journey with the Modere Weight Management Program (WMP) on 9 September 2014, and barely 12 weeks later I dumped (I prefer to use this term as I am dumping weight so it never comes back!) more than 20kg in weight, took 19.5cm off my waist, and 15cm off my hips in just those 3 months. This is the result of following the Program religiously and introducing a regular exercise regimen.
For those reading this, I had lost weight before only to put it back on again – so what was the difference with the WMP? One thing I really noticed was that I no longer craved sugar or carbohydrates anywhere near as much as I used to. I felt full of energy and a real joy for life. With this new outlook on life I became more motivated and determined than ever before to continue on my journey, and stay fit and healthy for the rest of my life. I have no doubt that the WMP supplements helped me to achieve these life changing results.
What was the catalyst to me wanting to change my life?
Before I decided that something needed to change, I was approaching 49, feeling de-motivated, had lost my love of exercising and of life in general. I had resorted to food and alcohol to comfort myself and supress my emotions. Put simply, I had lost touch with who I was and what was important to me. It actually took a serious accident at work to give me a much needed wake up call, along with watching the transformational change in a friend who had lost 16kg that spurred me on to wanting to change my own life. Enough was enough!
So what else changed in those 3 months apart from the obvious weight dumping?
I reconnected with my family and friends, I grew in confidence, I was happy for the first time in a long time and really enjoying life again.
Today, it has nearly been two years since I decided to get serious about my health, take control and make a permanent change, and I am happy to report that in those two years I have maintained my weight reduction and I am fit, healthy and happy.
This year has been a big milestone year for me – I turned 50 on 1 January and promised myself that I would undertake a number of challenges and fulfil my ‘bucket list’.
So far I have taken part in two obstacle course races completing both Tough Mudder and True Grit – both of which require a good level of fitness and confidence. I also managed to cross off riding a husky sled! Yep, I rode a sled behind a team of amazing huskies in the snow in Queenstown, NZ.
What more can I say…life is pretty good right now.
