With the summer sun well and truly here, we find ourselves enjoying more time being active outdoors. Sunscreen is a great tool to ensure we can keep our bodies protected while enjoying the summer vibes.
Don’t worry, we’ve got you covered. We want to give you everything you need to have a fun-filled and safe summer so here are your common sunscreen questions answered.
WHAT IS SPF?
SPF stands for Sun Protection Factor; it is a measure of how well a sunscreen protects the skin from sunburn.
WHAT IS BROAD-SPECTRUM?
There are different types of UV radiation. Ultraviolet A (UVA) radiation penetrates deep into the skin and contributes to ageing of the skin. Ultraviolet B (UVB) radiation penetrates the top layer of skin and is the main cause of sunburn. Both UVA and UVB contribute to increased skin cancer risk. Broad-spectrum sunscreen filters both UVA and UVB radiation.
HOW OFTEN DO I NEED TO REAPPLY
MY SUNSCREEN?
To be effective you’ll need to reapply your sunscreen every 2 hours for maximum protection.
HOW MUCH SHOULD I USE?
Underapplying sunscreen is one of the most common mistakes you can make. For adults, we recommend using approximately one teaspoon of sunscreen for each arm, leg, front of body, back of body and face. That equates to roughly seven teaspoons for a full body application.
IS MODERE SUNSCREEN WATER RESISTANT?
It sure is. Our sunscreen is water resistant up to 4 hours. However, we always suggest reapplying after water activities, a sweaty workout or towel drying, to ensure maximum protection.
CAN MODERE SUNSCREEN BE USED FOR THE WHOLE FAMILY?
Our sunscreen is tough on rays but gently formulated with zinc oxide which sits on the skin providing a barrier of protection rather than being absorbed. This makes it a great choice for the whole family as well as people with sensitive skin. Modere’s SPF 50+ has a hydrating cream base that disappears after application, leaving the skin soft, smooth, and protected.
